Embaring Periods?

I have had my period for a couple years now but i had one start last Tuesday and I think its over but I see like little spots of blood on my panties. Is that sometimes normal?/ I am very self concious and freak out over little things but its never lasted 8 days. Please tell me if this happens. It not a lot of blood just lke little spots here and there.
