Do USMC "Gold Wing" ceremony's still occur?

They did the same thing for promotion too but it's mostly gentler now like what the first answer said. The USMC realized that this was not training/right of page and Marines are getting f-up physically for no reason. There is a difference between hazing and training- hazing has no training value what so ever except to degrade or f-up someone for the groups amusement. Training encourages camaraderie, espirit de corps, unit and individual proficiency in their jobs. Some NCO's don't know the difference and when they got caught, they got in big trouble.
