Thick, Curly Hair, Need a New Flat iron?

Right now I have a Tigi Bed Head iron and it's absolutely terrible. I desperately need a new one. I have extremely thick, curly hair. Some people have suggested to try the CHI iron but I heard it breaks down a lot and is extremely expensive. I'm trying to stay under 60$. Any Ideas?
